Cleaning a Snowshoe Hare -- The 'No Nonsense' Way :: Rabbit Hunting Article :: Miller Outdoors :: Guide Service & Registered Beagles

Should be about the same. Assuming your eating it. Another way we have used that is quick when you just want to gut and save the cleaning for later, it to open up the skin at the bottom of the abdomen with both vertical and horizontal cuts, hold the animal by the front legs facing away from you, lift it up to head height, and swing it down towards the ground between your legs. All the insides suddenly become outsides. You have to cut off the trachea and sphincter as they will still be attached. Dont wear nice shoes, and dont swing it over your head. They'll rolll down your back or straight up into the air, and come back down all over you.

I'm not positive here, but I *think* he's talking about gutting a CATALYTIC CONVERTER! You guys are some sick bastards, lol.

Anyways, the easiest way to do it, is just to take the outside cover off of the cat, and replace it with a straight pipe, then put that cover around the pipe so it looks like you still have a legal cat there. Or the other way is to get a big ass drill bit, and just drill away until the inside is all gone.

The way I did myne was I pulled the header (which the Cat and exhaust valve were a part of) and made reference marks across where I was going to cut it with a sharpie so when I re-welded the two peices back together, my mid-pipe would still be at the same angle.

Then I used a band-saw to cut through one end of the converter 'lump'. The honeycomb came out without much problem, and I used a TIG to re-weld the two parts back together. The thickness of the bandsaw will determine how much material you take out, and as such, it will determine how far 'off' your mid-pipe connection is, however unless you're cutting out more than 1/8" or so, you shouldn't run into any fitment issues.

And I like my cat with BBQ sauce.

I'm just curious as to why you used a TIG. Do you prefer it over MIG, or is it all you had handy at the time?

I've been thinking about making long tube headers for my truck, and only have access to MIG equipment. Surely you'd get enough penetration with a MIG welder....

Unless you know something I don't...

I have done this. Works really well on a lot of cars, but not sure if it works on bikes or not.

Depends on the type of cat.
